How much does sending TOEFL and GRE scores cost? Four free, then US$25 or US$40 each

Both the TOEFL and the GRE test fee include four free score recipients; beyond that it is US$25 per institution for TOEFL and US$40 per recipient for the GRE.

The four free ones have a cut-off. For TOEFL they must be chosen in your ETS account by 10 p.m. local test-centre time the day before the test, and for the GRE you pick them at the test centre on test day; after that every report is paid. TOEFL scores can be sent for two years after the test date. The GRE figure is the fee schedule effective 1 August 2026, and the GRE also has ScoreSelect, which lets you send your most recent scores, all of them, or specific test dates.

Delivery time depends on how the school receives scores. For TOEFL, schools on ETS Data Manager get them in about 4–8 business days, server feeds take 8–10, and postal mail 10–12 business days plus transit, so two weeks is a safe allowance. One detail that is easy to miss: once you name any institution as a TOEFL score recipient, you can no longer request a score review of the Writing or Speaking sections.
