How it started

The idea behind this app came while I was applying to grad schools in the US. I had several schools to keep up with at once, and each had its own timeline, application portal, document checklist, number of recommendation letters, way of sending scores, and interview schedule. I tried Notion, and I tried Excel, but I could never find a tool that would hold what every school needed in one place, so that through a long stretch of preparation I could see where everything stood at a glance. So one day I thought: why not write one for myself.

Later I showed it to friends who were applying too, and they all found it useful. So together with them, over many rounds of revision, I slowly turned it into something anyone can use. I hope it helps you along the way.

Why it's free

The more we built it, the more we came to care about it. It feels like a worthwhile thing to make, and we would like it to stay free. The number of users is still small, so the cost is still ours to carry. If you think we have done a decent job, a small donation is very welcome and keeps Applied going.
